Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Regional Campus Concerns

Charge

April 2026

In recent years, the university’s regional campuses have experienced significant changes and pressures, including shifts in enrollment patterns, leadership, faculty staffing, and long‑term strategic priorities. These developments have raised important questions about the future role and sustainability of the regional campuses. In this context, the University Senate establishes an ad hoc committee charged with creating space for regional faculty voices and strengthening their role in shaping institutional conversations about the future of their campus communities.

This ad hoc committee is charged with identifying and articulating shared, high‑level institutional concerns related to the university’s regional campuses. The committee’s purpose is exploratory rather than prescriptive. It shall:

  • Provide a forum for regional campus senators to reflect on what issues feel most pressing
  • Identify a small number of recurring institutional‑level themes
  • Frame those concerns in ways that can be thoughtfully communicated through Senate channels to academic leadership.

The committee’s work shall conclude with a brief summary or set of observations shared with Faculty Council and/or Senate Steering in early fall.
